Take Refuge in Art

Almost got sidetracked by another interesting story, again.

I have been putting off publishing my first Medium story for some time now, and it’s not that I haven’t been writing, I’ve just been thinking of that captivating title.

There we go again, beginning with the end in mind. There’s something about art that doesn’t confine you to that responsibility.

Art has always been a part of me; I used to draw comics when I was a teenager — Super Strikers I wonder if teenagers nowadays have a favourite comic book. While interning at one of the biggest and most busy banks in Nigeria, sketching was my way of coping with the heat, and it was really hot, despite the full air-conditioning in my office, but there’s a thing about art that gives my mind freedom from every other thing, including planning — that’s it!

Planning is the order of my day, and sometimes I just get stuck in the cycle of overanalyzing problems. From selecting the most interesting feature for a new product to rephrasing the words for a vision statement in order to find the one that clearly paints the picture I’m seeing, I’m always starting with the end in mind.

So, I decided to take refuge in art today, and allow my heart to lead me to the galaxy of written words. It feels good to be back on Medium, and I’ve got more exciting content coming, stay tuned.

With love from,

Kọ́láwọlé.
